Camels in the dark – strange mission of the police in Germany

Camels in the dark

Camels aren’t just in the desert. Sometimes they just hang around in the cities, for example in front of a German supermarket.

German Police officers from Bergen near Celle, Lower Saxony, went on a very strange mission late yesterday evening: Several camels had actually been spotted by road users on the parking lot of a shopping market!

On site, the police officers found that the seven camels had broken out of the nearby winter camp of a circus. In order to prevent a danger for the flowing traffic on the B3, they secured the location until the animals were returned to their stable. A responsible employee of the circus led the animals back to their stables.

What exactly the camels wanted in front of the supermarket is not yet known. The shop didn’t sell any Camel Boots, anyway. And smokers were not among the animals either.
