Enjoy a princely life in privacy
Well, I’m not addicted to luxury, but I don’t mind, if somebody likes to treat me like a VIP. And that’s one of the reasons, why it was a great pleasure to stay two nights at “Five-Star Superior Hotel Suitess” in Dresden, Germany. The other reason, why I checked in here: The Suitess is right in the middle of the historic “heart” of Dresden: It’s directly located at famous Dresden Frauenkirche, only a few steps away from legendary Semper Opera House, the Dresden Zwinger and the residential Palace.
Behind baroque facades – reconstructed true to the historical original – the house offers 21 comfortable single and double rooms – available in the executive and de luxe categories – and elegant suites, as well as four apartments in which you can rely on privacy, comfort and amiable service. The elegant rooms are furnished in the style of the Biedermeier period, and are supplied with exquisite materials and accessories. Suitess Hotel Dresden combines all advantages of the modern five-star standard with the luxurious atmosphere of past grand hotel times.
Attended by passionate discussion, the Dresden Neumarkt square, where the hotel is located, has been restored with an unprecedented effort since the end of the 1990s. Its reconstruction should, thus, be one of the largest operations of its kind in the world. And it is exactly in this unique setting where the “Suitess” is located: In a house that is symbol to Dresden’s eventful and contradictory history. Over long years, it has been meticulously and painstakingly restored to its former splendour. The building is part of the so-called Quartier II „An der Frauenkirche“, an eight building ensemble. Today you can enjoy the rich original pastel colours of the „Zum Schwan“ and „Zur Glocke“ houses bearing the street numbers „An der Frauenkirche“ 13 and 14. And as it was back then, the facades of the Rampische Strasse 1-7 impress with their masterly architecture.
Back to the rooms: Just like the luxuriously furnished and timelessly elegant one where I stayed, the spacious suites – each having its own reference to Dresden’s history – are designed individually and equipped with high-quality fixtures and furniture. Here in particular, guests indulge in diverse kinds of granite, marble and wood, original French and Belgian furniture, warm colours – the comfort of Biedermeier style. Too much of a waste to leave it right after getting up!
For guests who want to stay a little longer, or simply like to enjoy the comfort of a roomy and generously space the Suitess offers stylish apartments in the Bel Etage. In these apartments you will experience high-quality ambience and comfort, individuality and style in every detail. The exclusive-equipped units have separate living and sleeping area, a workstation and a fully equipped kitchen and bathroom. On request there are two apartments with a fireplace and a roof terrace overlooking the Frauenkirche available.
Back to the five-star-service: The experienced concierge knows his ways around the city and is very ready any time to answer your questions and meet your wishes and suggestions. He will be pleased to provide you tickets for the Semperoper, the Philharmonie, the Frauenkirche and the great many Dresden theatres and he will take care of your restaurant reservations. I asked him very late in the evening for a flower bouquet I wanted to have on my breakfast-table very early next day – no problem for him, though flowershops had already closed and didn’t open too early in the morning… You want a personal chauffeur to drive you around with a limousine? You need you own butler? You are asking for reliable childcare or dog sitting service? No problem as well. All of these wishes go without saying in the Hotel Suitess.
Beside the elegancy of my suite and the extraordinary service, I enjoyed the noble wellness area above Dresden’s rooftops, with sauna, whirlpool and elegantly furnished relaxation rooms. I’ll remember the “Suitess Hotel” as a world full of comfort, to relax, enjoy and retreat – well, just to feel good. And that’s what I did: I felt good here, like a VIP in luxury. I don’t mind!
